Let's Get Fit - Day 5

WOW! This morning, I woke up and I was sore from my run/walk intervals on Day 4. I decided I was going to stay home, clean the kids' bedrooms and take a walk around the neighborhood to stretch my sore muscles. Then my phone dinged with a text from my friend and neighbor, Lori. "You heading to the Y later this morning?" She asked. I answered with some "excuses." Then she responded with, "Well, shoot! You were my motivation today."

I WAS HER MOTIVATION!!! First of all, I am so glad that by sharing my goals that others may feel motivated. That's awesome! But it was her text that motivated ME! It didn't take much more texting back and forth before I said, "Ok, let's do it, Lori."

We had plans to meet by 10:45 am. Get the kids in child watch and then hit the treadmills. We got 30 minutes into a good walk before another motivator came by.

Susan works at the Y and has talked to me about a group fitness class since the first day I went last Wednesday. I might have said a few times that someone will have to drag me into a group class or I'll need a friend to get me through. This was the perfect day. Susan stopped by the treadmills to tell me and Lori that a HIIT class was starting in 10 minutes. Without hesitation, we said, "YES! We will be there!"

Goodness gracious, y'all! I didn't think I was going to make it through. I was doing crunches, push-ups, burpees (WHAT?!), lunges, we had to run sprints, I was using weights.... it was crazy. I was hurting SO bad. But it felt awesome!

Later in the day, I received a text from a dear friend from the OWLS Club. (The OWLS Club is the program for senior adults that I worked with when I was working full-time). Her text to me read, "Hope your routine is going well today. Keep up the good work." And she included a picture of "50 Reasons to Exercise." It was as if she knew I needed the extra motivation. Thank you, Delores! :)

All that to say - I'm doing great on my journey and it will be a long journey. We ALL need a support system. We need it to motivate ourselves and we need it to motivate each other.

There were at least 3 people yesterday who pushed me along to do something I had not planned to do and I don't regret it for one second (well, maybe in the middle of those burpees I was regretting it. But that didn't last too long!).
